Set up the OSX (Snow Leopard) desktop to activate the screensaver and lock the desktop.

If you miss the CTRL > ALT > DEL option in Windows to lock your desktop this brief procedure may be what you need.

*** NOTE – ensure you know your username and password to log on to your Mac before you attempt this ***
System Preferences > Personal > Security
On the General tab tick the check box to ‘Require password (immediately) after sleep or screen saver begins’.
Click on the lock to make the changes.

System Preferences > Personal > Desktop & Screen Saver
On the Screen Saver tab select your preferred screen saver.
In the bottom right of the tab click on the ‘Hot Corners’ button.
Pick a corner (I prefer the bottom left) and for that corner set the ‘Start Screen Saver’ option, then click OK.

To test move the mouse to the Hot Corner (bottom left) and leave idle for a second.
The screen saver should activate, once it has activated move the mouse or press any key.
Enter your username and password to unlock.
